SEVEN Study
The SEVEN Study examines how a new drug affects symptoms of PTSD. If you choose to be in this study, you will be asked to take the study drug or a placebo (a pill that looks like the study drug but has no drug in it) once a day for 7 days, in addition to completing other study assessments. The study involves 5 in-person visits to the San Francisco VA Medical Center as well as 3-4 remote visits. Participants will be in the study for about 10 to 12 weeks. Most of the study visits will take place within a 2-week period.
Who is eligible to participate?
Veterans who are between the ages of 18 to 69 with symptoms of PTSD may be a good candidate for this research study.

PhROST: Oxytocin for Veterans with Schizophrenia
Seeking Veterans between ages 18-70 diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizophreniform, schizoaffective disorder, or brief psychotic disorder. Participants will be asked to take a nasal spray (containing Oxytocin or placebo) and complete tasks in an fMRI scanner. The study consists of 5 study visits and a 3-week at-home period.

SRV: Sleep Restoration in Veterans
Seeking medically healthy male or female Veterans between the ages of 18 to 75 experiencing symptoms of PTSD and Insomnia. Participants will receive a study medication (Suvorexant) or placebo in a 12-week trial.

AIR: Apnea and Insomnia Relief
We are conducting a study of treatments for sleep problems in people with post-traumatic stress. Participants will be offered one of two behavioral (non-medication) treatments: Apnea and Insomnia Relief or Sleep Education. Each treatment involves meeting 1-on-1 with a provider once per week for 6 weeks. All appointments are through video-to-home. To participate in this study, your provider must refer you for a sleep apnea test at the San Francisco VA Healthcare System.

Insomnia Treatment Study
Are you having trouble sleeping?
If you are 18-75 years old, a Veteran who served in the U.S. military, and experiencing PTSD symptoms, you may be eligible to participate in a study of a non-pharmaceutical treatment for insomnia. Participants will undergo 4 therapy visits by phone and video, and record information about their sleep for 5-6 weeks.

DDREAMS: Distressing Dream Reporting and Effective Measurement of Sleep
If you are 18 years old or above currently experiencing frequent nightmares or fearful awakenings, you may be a good candidate. The goal of this study is to use several approaches to understand sleep disturbance in PTSD. We seek to understand the biology of nightmares, nightmare enactment, and sleep-related violent behaviors and factors that contribute to these problems. Eligible participants will complete a sleep diary mobile app and wear a motion sensing wristband for 3 weeks. Participants may be eligible for a second part of the study involving several devices to measure their sleep at home. Bed partners of participating individuals may also be eligible to participate.
Compensation: Up to $459 for the participant and $139 for the Bed Partner

REST: Researching Effective Sleep Treatments
Do you suffer from nightmares due to a traumatic experience? If you are between the ages of 18 and 75 with symptoms of PTSD you may be a good candidate for a new study at the San Francisco VA Medical Center testing doxazosin, an FDA-approved medication which may help alleviate symptoms of PTSD including distressing dreams.

COVID-19 Study
The purpose of this study is to understand how people who have experienced prior stress may be impacted by the threat of COVID-19. We are seeking Veterans and civilians between the ages of 18-50 who completed the SRS Study to complete an online survey.
Compensation: $20 in the form of a gift card and up to $60 for completing follow up surveys
