SEVEN Study
The SEVEN Study examines how a new drug affects symptoms of PTSD. If you choose to be in this study, you will be asked to take the study drug or a placebo (a pill that looks like the study drug but has no drug in it) once a day for 7 days, in addition to completing other study assessments. The study involves 5 in-person visits to the San Francisco VA Medical Center as well as 3-4 remote visits. Participants will be in the study for about 10 to 12 weeks. Most of the study visits will take place within a 2-week period.
Who is eligible to participate?
Veterans who are between the ages of 18 to 69 with symptoms of PTSD may be a good candidate for this research study.

PhROST: Oxytocin for Veterans with Schizophrenia
Seeking Veterans between ages 18-70 diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizophreniform, schizoaffective disorder, or brief psychotic disorder. Participants will be asked to take a nasal spray (containing Oxytocin or placebo) and complete tasks in an fMRI scanner. The study consists of 5 study visits and a 3-week at-home period.

SRV: Sleep Restoration in Veterans
Seeking medically healthy male or female Veterans between the ages of 18 to 75 experiencing symptoms of PTSD and Insomnia. Participants will receive a study medication (Suvorexant) or placebo in a 12-week trial.

Insomnia Treatment Study
Are you having trouble sleeping?
If you are 18-75 years old, a Veteran who served in the U.S. military, and experiencing PTSD symptoms, you may be eligible to participate in a study of a non-pharmaceutical treatment for insomnia. Participants will undergo 4 therapy visits by phone and video, and record information about their sleep for 5-6 weeks.

GW-AIR: Gulf-War AIR
If you:
- Are 48-80 years old
- Are a Desert Storm/Desert Shield Veteran
- Have trouble sleeping
- Have Gulf War Illness (GWI) symptoms
- Have access to wireless internet connection
You may be eligible for an online sleep apnea and insomnia treatment program aiming to improve your sleep and manage GWI symptoms. Eligible participants will attend a clinical interview call, take a home sleep apnea test, maintain a daily sleep diary, answer online surveys, and attend six weekly virtual Sleep Education Therapies. They will also receive a Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) device to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

The FM Study: Investigating Fear System Myelination in PTSD
The FM Study uses neuroimaging (MRI) to understand more about how exposure to traumatic experiences affects the brain. Participants will participate remotely and in-person at the San Francisco VA.

STAR: Sleep, Trauma, and Replay Study
The purpose of this study is to get a better understanding of the role of sleep biology in the processing of emotionally distressing or stressful information. The study involves one laboratory session lasting approximately 6 hours at the San Francisco VA Hospital. The week following the laboratory visit will include filling out some surveys from your phone and wearing a wristband device that measures the motion of your arm.
How do I know if I qualify?
If you are a generally healthy veteran or non-veteran between the ages of 25-50, you may be a good candidate.
Compensation: up to $180-$190 ($20/hour during the laboratory visit)
