Dr. Holder is a clinical psychologist and health systems researcher focused on improving the delivery of trauma-focused evidence-based psychotherapy (TF-EBP) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has developed a program of research focused on informing clinical practice and health systems to improve PTSD treatment, particularly for Veterans receiving care within the Veterans Health Administration. He emphasizes use of real-world electronic health record data and mixed-method designs to both reflect and understand the complexity of delivering effective PTSD treatment. He targets research questions that are likely to have direct, strong clinical implications, particularly related to treatment initiation, engagement, dosing, sequencing, safety, and equity. By applying health services and implementation science methods to PTSD treatment research, his goal is to bridge the gap between treatment efficacy and real-world care delivery
